Janel Grant’s lawyer: ‘Culture corruption’ has permeated every cell of WWE in todays Wrestling news
Ann Callis spoke to News Nation Now Thursday.
Janel Grant’s lawyer says that her inbox is flooded with people willing to testify to a “culture” of corruption at WWE.
Ann Callis, a lawyer, appeared on “Morning in America,” Thursday, and discussed the lawsuit that her client filed against Vince McMahon and WWE.
Callis told Markie Martin that “it’s been a long journey, and she (Grant), wants to speak up for any other victims to eradicate this culture corruption which has permeated the WWE.”
Grant’s lawyer continued to say that she feels “overwhelmed by the number” of people who have come forth, including other potential victims.
She said, “My office and inbox have been flooded with people who want to come forward and testify about this culture corruption and also potential victims.” “We’re just beginning to wade our way through all of this, but frankly we’re overwhelmed.”
“(Grant), wants justice because she wants change the culture in the WWE. She wants to help the other victims. She believes that by speaking up and coming forward, others will feel empowered and encouraged to come forward,” Callis continued.
Grant claims in the lawsuit that WWE’s internal investigation into Vince McMahon, which concluded in November 2022, was a “sham.” The lawsuit claims that despite Grant’s willingness to participate, no one from WWE contacted her regarding the investigation.
Jeff Speed, former member of WWE Board of Directors and head of internal investigation, told The New York Times, that the investigation included “outreach to Ms. Grant and engagement” with her lawyer.
McMahon removed Speed from the WWE Board of Directors when he returned to the company in early 2023 as its executive Chairman.
“Vince McMahon has removed JoEllen Lyons Dillon and Jeffrey R. Speed from the Board,” reads a WWE Press Release from January 6, 2023.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s last edition, available to subscribers now, featured the lawsuit filed against McMahon and Lauriniatis. Dave Meltzer, one of our own, writes in the issue: “For the third time since June’s revelation that women were paid hush-money regarding sexual activity with Vince McMahon. Charges in a suit filed on 1/25 may finally end Vince McMahon’s career.”
