IYO SKY has become the first woman ever to win a WWE Speed match.
On Wednesday’s episode, a tournament was launched to determine the first WWE Speed Women’s champion. SKY advanced into the semifinals after pinning Lyra Valkyria with 44 seconds remaining on the three-minute timer.
SKY will face either Naomi or Blair Davenport at the semifinals. Naomi and Davenport will be facing off in the first round match on Speed next week. The other first-round matches are Elektra vs. Kairi sane and Candice vs. Piper Niven.
If SKY and Sane make it to the final, it would be a Damage CTRL-only final.
WWE Speed premiered in April. It aired exclusively on X/Twitter, as part of a 2-year deal between WWE and the social media company. The show featured only men’s division matches until now. Andrade is currently the WWE Speed Champion for men. He won the belt in June, when Ricochet played his final match for WWE.
