Ilja Dragunov stretched out in storyline after WWE NXT match in todays Wrestling news

A match between Dragunov vs. Ridge Holland was abruptly ended due to an injury in the storyline.

Ilja Dragunov was injured in the NXT episode that aired on Tuesday.

Dragunov was wrestling Ridge Holland during the main event on Tuesday when Holland delivered a DDT. Dragunov began to act like he was injured as referees entered the ring to check Dragunov. Holland looked dejected as Dragunov was stretchered away to the back with a neck brace.

Holland made an appearance earlier in the show, during a Dragunov promotional segment. He said he returned to NXT because he wanted to redeem himself after numerous setbacks. He told Dragunov he was willing work his way up in order to get an NXT Championship Match. Dragunov offered Holland the chance to face him on Tuesday’s show in a non title match, which Holland accepted.

Holland was last seen last month walking out on Butch, his tag-team partner, during a SmackDown Match against Pretty Deadly. Butch has wrestled as a singles on SmackDown since.

On Tuesday’s show, another WWE main roster team, Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde also appeared. They helped Dragon Lee fight off the No Quarter Catch Crew, after he successfully defended his NXT North American championship against both Charlie Dempsey of Gallus and Joe Coffey.

Dragunov will defend the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil on January 2 against Trick Williams.
