The first match of the former Jinder Mahal for GCW has been set.
On Sunday, the company announced that Mahal will face Effy in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 2. Mahal will wrestle under the name of “The Maharaja”, Raj Dhesi, moving forward.
The match announcement is based on an angle that occurred this past Friday at GCW’s So High. Mahal, wearing a mask, entered the ring after an Effy/Cole Radick Tag Team match and smashed Effy with the Khallas. He then unmasked himself.
On X Mahal said he’d raise GCW to meet his standards and be their champion. He also said that he witnessed “recreational drugs use” backstage, among other things. He also claimed that Matt Cardona had done a bad job as GCW general manager.
Mahal was let go from WWE in April. Mahal was released from WWE in April.
