Gable Steveson thanks fans for their support in a statement about WWE release in todays Wrestling news
Steveson’s Manager issued a statement for The MMA Hour.
Gable Steveson’s manager says that his client has many options after his WWE release.
Steveson was among the names that were cut from the NXT lineup on Friday. The Olympic gold-medalist was the first NIL signee in 2021, but after a match with Baron Corbin at The Great American Bash in 2023, he only wrestled at NXT House Shows or SmackDown Dark Matches.
Ariel Helwani, Steveson’s manager Dave Martin, read a statement from Martin to The MMA Hour on Wednesday:
Gable Steveson would like to express his gratitude for the opportunities that he received from WWE and thank everyone who helped him achieve this. He would like to thank the fans for their support on his professional wrestler journey. Gable is now ready to compete against elite-level competitors and shares big news with all of you very soon.
Steveson still has one year left of NCAA eligibility. Steveson’s release from WWE was too late to allow him to compete in the Olympic trials. This prevented him from competing at this summer’s Games in Paris.
Helwani said that Steveson was also contacted by several NFL teams. Steveson also trains MMA at the Florida-based Kill Cliff FC.
Helwani told the audience that “multiple NFL teams” had contacted Gable Steveson via Dave Martin. He has that extra year of eligible and he has also been training with Henry Hooft, Rob Lawler and Kill Cliff FC.
Helwani said he was aware of two NFL clubs interested in inviting Steveson for a mini-camp.
