Ric Flair is the reason Dwight Howard became a professional wrestler.
Howard participated in a WWE tryout at SummerSlam in Nashville in 2022. Triple H would later state that “the ball is in his hands” when it comes to whether Howard would join the company.
Howard told TMZ that Flair talked Howard out of a WWE career after his NBA career.
Howard said, “I was speaking to Ric Flaair.” “He said he didn’t know if his knees were good for wrestling.”
Howard suffered from knee injuries for 18 seasons of his NBA career.
“My knees are feeling good, it’s only wrestling,” he continued. “You’re talking picking up 300-pound guys and all that stuff. Nobody wants to do it for the rest of their lives!
It does not appear that a career in wrestling is in the cards. The 38-year old signed a contract earlier this year with the Taiwan Mustangs (TAT), a team of The Asian Tournament. He told TMZ that he’s interested in stand-up comedy.
