Eddie Kingston, AEW’s Eddie Kingston, is believed to have broken his leg in todays Wrestling news
Eddie Kingston is out of action due to a broken leg.
Last weekend, Kingston was injured in his no-rope Last Man Standing match with Gabe Kidd. Kidd won the NJPW Openweight Championship by defeating Kingston in the match. Kingston was injured at the end of the match when his leg struck the guardrail as he was being suplexed by a table. Kingston was able to participate in a post match angle where he faced Jack Perry and was laid out by the Young Bucks.
Kingston was supposed be a part of Team AEW in Double or Nothing. He would have teamed up with Bryan Danielson & FTR in a match against The Young Bucks and Perry & Kazuchika Ohada in the Anarchy in the Arena arena. Kingston was replaced by Darby Allen due to his injury. The pay-per view will take place on Sunday, 26 May.
Dave Meltzer, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that it is believed Kingston broke his leg at Resurgence.
Kidd and Kingston were handcuffed in the finish after Kidd suplexed Kingston through a table that bridged the guard rail and the apron. Kingston’s legs were thrown into the guardrail as he went over. He grabbed his right foot immediately. Kingston was not supposed to win the count. After the match, there was also to be a angle.
Kingston lay on his back for five and a half minutes in pain. He eventually told the officials he was able get up and slowly crawled into the ring to create the angle, but he was able stand on his own. Jack Perry appeared after Kingston. The Young Bucks, which were not booked for the show and had not appeared in a New Japan Ring since the 2019 Tokyo Dome Show, then came out to attack Kingston and lay him out with the EVP. The angle was great to set up Anarchy In the Arena but Kingston’s injury changed everything. Dynamite was reporting that Kingston had a broken leg, although it wasn’t confirmed. He was limping after the match, and they hoped that the injury wasn’t severe enough to force him out. On 5/13 they discovered that the leg had been broken and had to switch the main event, Double or Nothing, with Dynamite.
