Rousey claimed that she confronted Gulak later about the incident.
Ronda Roussey has accused a current NXT superstar of inappropriately touching her backstage when she was in WWE.
Rousey told Brian Entin, NewsNation’s Brian Entin, about a time when she was in WWE and waiting to speak with Triple H in the writer’s room. Someone walked by her and grabbed her sweatpants string before walking away. She later identified the person as current NXT wrestling Drew Gulak.
“I was standing in the hallway and this guy, who I barely knew, grabbed the string of my sweatpants while I was walking by…and no one reacted as if it was abnormal. He was going down the hall when I asked him ‘what’s that? Why are you grabbing my sweatpants’ string? Would you feel comfortable grabbing the string from my sweatpants if my husband was standing next to me? All the guys around were like, “This is just part of the day.” What about the other girls in the hallway? If this guy is coming up to me, and doing this type of stuff when there are others around, what happens to them when I am not there?”
Rousey claimed that she confronted Gulak about the incident.
“I was like if I hear you ever putting your hands onto another woman like this, or doing anything to my like this again…we’re gonna have a problem. He said, “No, no no, I am glad you told me something” and he retreated. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth, about the culture and what was acceptable. I also had a bad feeling about how the women were treated in the halls.
Rousey has been critical of her time at WWE since August last year, when she lost to Shayna Basszler at SummerSlam. Gulak is still with WWE as part of their NXT brand, where she is a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew. Together they hold the NXT Heritage Cup Trophy.
In an interview this week with “Good Morning America”, Rousey stated that she would return to WWE only if the company “dramatically changes”.
