Daniel Garcia continued to speak with the media after signing his new contract at AEW.
He took aim at those who criticize AEW and confirmed past and current locker-room issues. He also spoke about the decision making process he underwent for almost a year in order to resign.
Garcia spoke to Uproxx. While he acknowledges that there are positive outlets, he is offended by certain podcasters “who are clearly just looking for a click.”
“Hating AEW is a popular thing that gets a lot attention. I feel a lot comes from people who have retired their jerseys. We have never hung their jerseys in the rafters, and we can’t remember their numbers. Many of those people are trying a new career by hating AEW and people who are trying be successful. It’s sad. “I hope I don’t have to go through this when I get older,” he said.
Although there has not been a formal announcement about Garcia signing a deal, the article stated that he recently renewed his contract, saying that he “agonized” over the decision for nearly a full year, without directly quoting Garcia. The wrestler said he was confident that AEW would be the right place for his career, at least for the moment.
“I believe that AEW is a place where I can really trust. Look around the locker rooms, and you’ll see people with whom I would like to fight. He said, “We have a roster of wrestlers and performers that inspire me to improve.
He confirmed past reports of locker room conflict without mentioning specific incidents or people. He credited people like Chris Jericho, and FTR, for helping him guide him in his early career. However, he seemed to indicate that there are still current issues.
“AEW has had its ups and downs in the last couple of years. You hear rumors about the locker rooms and many of them are true. Many times, the locker room is in turmoil and people are angry with each other. “I would say we’ve had a positive upswing in the last year or so. Everyone is helping each other, and it’s a great environment to be part of,” said he.
Garcia is expected challenge TBS Champion Jack Perry next month at Full Gear. He is currently allied with Private Party to fight The Elite and also fending off a new-look Blackpool Combat Club.
