Damian Priest claims he was cast as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Marvel’s blockbuster 2022 film, but the opportunity was taken away from him.
Priest did not explicitly state that WWE had prevented him from appearing, but he made clear that Marvel was not responsible for removing the role.
He spoke about what happened in a recent Insight interview with Chris Van Vliet.
Priest confirmed that he was offered a part in the film.
Van Vliet said, “I think that we can read between these lines that the (WWE’s) regime was different at that time.”
“Exactly,” Priest replied.
Priest, however, continued to say he was happy with the way everything turned out.
Priest continued, “Look, whatever happens, I’m fine with it.” “Maybe I would do something like that. I go a completely different route. I’m no longer sitting here with you as a champion, like I did at WrestleMania. I don’t even know if this happens.”
“It didn’t work out. Not the end of world.” “The movie was great,” he added.
Filming began in June 2021, and finished in March 2022. Puerto Rico was used to film parts of the movie.
Priest then spoke about the night he was crowned World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania.
“If I am being honest, it was emotional.” I went out with my family and friends. We had a party, it was great. When I got back into my room, I was like: What is this? How is this possible? It was as if my entire life flashed before me, all the things I had to endure to reach that point. It was one of those moments when I realized I had no regrets. “I thought I had regrets, but then I realized that I was exactly where I was supposed to be and this was the only way things could have happened.”
