Corey Graves & CM Punk have rekindled a friendship after a fallout.
In an interview Bill Apter conducted for Sportskeeda WrestleBinge Graves revealed he and Punk had spoken and cleared up the air following Punk’s return to WWE. Graves revealed that he and Punk apologized to each other for certain things over the years.
The conversation between Graves Punk and the Royal Rumble took place in January. Graves expressed that it was exciting to see Punk return to WWE and renew their friendship.
I am happy to report that everything is now behind us. I finally got to meet him in person – I bumped briefly into him the night of Survivor Series, but it was chaotic. He had just returned, and everything was on high alert. I was able to talk with him for a few moments on the day of the Royal Rumble in Tropicana. We had a nice long chat.
We both have apologized for certain things over the years, and we realized that this is where both of us belong. We both want to be here. It’s been an exciting time for me to be able rekindle the friendship that has meant so much to my life over the years. And I’m as excited as anyone to see Punk back under the WWE banner.
Graves was a close friend of Punk before they fell out. Graves accused Punk in a series tweets that he had sent the night before Punk faced Mike Jackson in UFC 225, of abandoning all those who stood by his side. Graves called the tweets unprofessional.
Graves announced in November last year that he would welcome Punk to WWE before he returned at Survivor Series.
Graves is the lead announcer for WWE SmackDown. He calls the show with Wade Barrett.
Punk, who suffered a torn right triceps in the Royal Rumble, will still be involved in WrestleMania as a non-wrestling role. He will be joining the commentary for Seth Rollins’ and Drew McIntyre’s World Heavyweight Championship Match at night two of WrestleMania on Sunday.
Punk was originally supposed to face Rollins at WrestleMania before his injury.
