Cody Rhodes’ AEW run will be a memorable time in his life.
Last Friday, Rhodes returned home to Jacksonville, the birthplace of AEW. He appeared on an episode of WWE SmackDown. On the show, a contract was signed for Rhodes’ and Logan Paul’s Undisputed WWE Championship Match at King & Queen of the Ring.
Rhodes reflected upon the reception he received from Jacksonville while appearing on Busted Open Radio. Rhodes was very proud of the fans’ reaction to him on SmackDown. There will always remain a connection between Rhodes, the city and his pro wrestling career.
Dave LaGreca, the host of the show, asked Rhodes if he was still keeping an eye on AEW.
Rhodes replied, “I’ll keep an eye on it.” “Because you can’t abandon it in your mind, especially if you attended the initial meetings. I’ll never lose sight of it. “I could never pretend it wasn’t there anymore.”
Rhodes was both a wrestler as well as an executive in AEW. He left the company in 2022, and returned to WWE.
Rhodes told Busted Open Radio he had a lot of wonderful memories from AEW and that it was a great season in his career.
“I’ve said it before, but I won’t root for my former company. I keep an eye on them. “I have a lot more great memories than anything else,” Rhodes said. “Sometimes, things are only for a season of your life.” It was a great season.
Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This Saturday (May 25), Rhodes will defend his title against Logan Paul in Saudi Arabia at WWE King & Queen of the Ring.
