Cody Rhodes thinks Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson still has plenty of energy to compete in the ring.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet for Insight, Rhodes stated that it was “an honor” to share the WrestleMania night one ring with The Rock. Rhodes said that The Rock had shown him he has so much to offer as an athlete. He said that he still wants to wrestle The Rock in a one-on-1 match.
“Offer is still valid,” Rhodes said. “And, again, if never returns, he has done everything. He has. It was an honor, despite the insults I had hurled at him in the past. But based on what I saw in the ring, it shouldn’t have been his last outing. There’s more. There may be more than one tank. There’s much more and I want the WWE Universe, or pro wrestling fans to see it. I think that there is a world in which WWE Director of the Board would be great, but there’s also a world in which WWE would really benefit. This young audience is able to connect because they don’t recognize him as People’s Champion, but as the Final Boss. This offer is valid whenever.”
WrestleMania was The Rock’s very first pro wrestling match for more than a decade. He defeated Rhodes & Seth Rollins as a tag-team with Roman Reigns. The match ended with Rock pinning Rhodes. This set the stage for an upcoming singles match between these two.
Rhodes defeated Reigns on WrestleMania night two, and is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. He has been Undisputed for 100 days. He will defend the title against Solo Sikoa on Saturday, August 3 at SummerSlam.
