Rhodes has responded to the backlash since last Friday.
Cody Rhodes responded to recent criticism about WrestleMania40 on X.
On Monday, Rhodes said: “Appreciate your passion, God bless you ….but. “Trust me.”
Fans have expressed their disapproval over an angle that occurred on Friday’s SmackDown, between Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns. Rhodes told Reigns he would come after him but not at WrestleMania. The Rock appeared at that exact moment, shaking hands as Rhodes entered the ring. The Rock and Reigns had a staredown at the end of the show.
During Raw’s opening promo, Rhodes and Seth Rollins exchanged chants like “we want Cody”, “Rocky stinks” and “we want Cody”. Michael Cole acknowledged the chants and asked if it was 1996 all over again.
Drew McIntyre, who came to the ring after Rollins asked Rhodes for confirmation of their match at WrestleMania said that it was he who should face Rollins. McIntyre attacked Rollins after Rollins refused to accept the idea. Rhodes saved the day by saving McIntyre, without giving an answer.
