Cody Rhodes said that winning the WrestleMania main event was “extremely validated
Rhodes was a guest on the TODAY show on Monday morning just hours after completing his story at Lincoln Financial Field. When Rhodes was asked about his Sunday victory, he responded that it was even more special because “the fans willed it into being.”
Rhodes said:
The fans willed this WrestleMania main event to happen. It’s a great feeling. We were going one way. We thought Rock vs. Roman reigns. They made it clear that they wanted something different and we got to finish line. So, it was a very validating experience.
Cody Rhodes believes that Dusty Rhodes would have been happy to sit back, say “I told ya so” and watch the WrestleMania main event.
Cody Rhodes said of his father,
He had an unshakeable faith in me that I did not have. And I look at this match and I see, you know, The Rock, who he used tag with Rock’s father, Roman Reigns one of his students when he trained him, Seth Rollins one of his favorites, and here I am his son. I think he’d have liked to just sit back and say, “I told you so.” I told you that he was fine.
When Rhodes was questioned about whether he had taken time to reflect, he said that the quietest moment he had experienced was during the ring entrance he made last night. He expressed his gratitude that Brandi Rhodes, his wife, was there to witness the event.
Rhodes said:
Last night, I did my entrance with my wife and that was as real as you can get. I couldn’t do it, I couldn’t make all the sacrifices without her so I was lucky to have her as part of that. WWE did it right.
