The promotion announced officially Wednesday that Chris Jericho would face Mistico in September at CMLL’s 91st anniversary event.
In a two part video promo posted late Wednesday on CMLL X, Jericho announced he would be returning to Arena Mexico for CMLL 91st anniversary event on Friday, September 13, where he will face Mistico.
Jericho made a surprise debut at CMLL’s traditional Friday night Arena Mexico on June 28. He attacked Mistico, reiterating an angle Jericho used in the past – wearing a disguise, making the surprise assault, then unmasking to reveal Jericho – in order to set up the Anniversary Event contest.
Jericho will be playing his first CMLL match in Mexico against Mistico since 1995.
Jericho worked regularly for the promotion between 1993 and 1995, in the early stages of Hall of Fame career.
