CM Punk finds it exciting that WWE and UFC are owned by Endeavor.
TKO Group Holdings was created in September last year when Endeavor completed its acquisition of WWE. WWE and UFC have collaborated both on and off-screen, despite operating independently. NXT Battleground was held at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas this June.
On Thursday, TKO posted a video on social media with Punk explaining why he believes that WWE and UFC should be under the same umbrella.
“There are many reasons why I believe the crossover between UFC & WWE is important. Punk said that we’re all under TKO. “But for me, the most important thing about this is that it brings pro-wrestling back to its roots. I think there are a lot parallels, a lot similarities. We’re all sisters and brothers at the end. We’re all fighters. “It’s a really exciting sight for me.”
Punk has UFC fight experience. He competed in two fights in 2016 (against Mickey Gall), and 2018 (against Mike Jackson). The fights took place during Punk’s seven-year hiatus from pro wrestling.
Punk has been away from the WWE ring due to a torn triceps since January. It’s likely that he will be cleared to return in time for a grudge bout against Drew McIntyre on Saturday, August 3 at SummerSlam.
