Punk returned to the show on Friday for the first time since a decade. Kevin Owens was mentioned when Punk was discussing possible stars that he might face on either brand. He called Owens ‘prickly,’ and said he didn’t want to work with someone who punches people in the face on backstage, because it’s now 2023 and “you can’t do that”. Punk was fired by AEW after a fight backstage with Jack Perry.

Punk mentioned in his promo on Friday that Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis were both trying to sign him as a free agent. He mentioned names from SmackDown, such as Roman Reigns and Owens, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. Punk didn’t mention Seth Rollins, but he did mention someone who had not welcomed him back. This person was “not the man in his household”. He said that he’d be at Raw on Monday to decide with which brand he’d sign.

Punk teased his appearance in the Royal Rumble by asking the crowd whether they wanted to watch him eliminate 29 men, point at a sign and headline WrestleMania.

Punk then appeared in backstage promotions, asking Kevin Owens first where Alids’ office was. In another segment, he was seen greeting Cody Rhodes. Another brief segment showed him with LA Knight and Randy Orton.
