CM Punk, who was sidelined for six months due to an injury, is thrilled to be back on the field.
Punk will return to the ring this weekend at SummerSlam, where he will face Drew McIntyre. The grudge match is scheduled for this weekend. Punk is wrestling for the first time since he suffered a torn right triceps at the Royal Rumble in January. He had surgery shortly after the injury, and confirmed last weekend that he has been cleared to wrestle again.
SummerSlam will be held at the Cleveland Browns Stadium this Saturday. Punk, who appeared on ESPN’s First Take in advance of the PLE and expressed his excitement to compete again, said he was looking forward to it.
Punk said, “I’m ecstatic.” “It has been a long journey to get back to WWE. I’ll admit, we have had some problems. Then to come back, and then get hurt in January was pretty crushing. It helped me with my rehab and refocus, and to really seize the chance that I was given.”
SummerSlam marks Punk’s return to WWE after his departure from the company in 2014.
Seth Rollins will be the special guest referee at SummerSlam for their match. In storyline, Rollins has had issues with Punk and McIntyre. Rollins gave his refereeing instructions in a Raw segment last night.
