CM Punk has been cleared and will wrestle at SummerSlam.
Punk announced on Raw that he had been cleared and was ready to fight Drew McIntyre immediately. McIntyre appeared but was not interested in fighting Punk. Adam Pearce interrupted Punk as he tried to attack McIntyre and said the match would be held at SummerSlam. Seth Rollins came out to announce that he would be their special guest referee on August 3, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Punk has been out of the ring since undergoing surgery to repair a triceps tear that occurred during this year’s Royal Rumble. Punk continued to work with Drew McIntyre despite being sidelined. Punk attacked McIntyre at WrestleMania after McIntyre had berated Punk for most of the postmatch. Damian Priest was able to win the World Heavyweight Championship by cashing in his Money in the Bank Briefcase.
McIntyre attacked Punk in a SmackDown episode after he lost his rematch with Damian Priest at Clash at Castle due to Punk’s interference. He left him bloodied and beaten. Punk returned to Money in the Bank and cost McIntyre a second chance at the World Heavyweight Title after winning the Money in the Bank Briefcase and cashing in.
Sami Zayn will defend the Intercontinental title at SummerSlam against Bron Breakker. Jelly Roll, a music star, will also be performing.
