Chelsea Green responds to Tessa Blanchard's past mental health struggles in todays Wrestling news

In a recent interview with Straight Talk Wrestling Tessa Blanchard revealed how being accused by several of colleagues of bullying and racism has affected her.

The backlash began against Blanchard in January 2020, when she posted on Twitter a message about female wrestlers who support each other. Several wrestlers accused Blanchard of bullying, and in particular calling another wrestler an slur behind the scenes.

“Remember the time you spat on a black woman in Japan and called her ‘N-word’? Was this “supporting women?” Allysin Kay wrote in response to Blanchard: “The AUDACITY this tweet.”

“You have consistently belittled, bullied and put down countless female colleagues, including myself. Chelsea Green wrote: “Is that support?”

Isla Dawn wrote: “As someone who has experienced your bullying, received verbal abuse regularly, been spat on, and had rumours about me spread, I pray that you now follow your advice.”

Blanchard, who is now working a full-time roster with CMLL Mexico, says that she would not change a thing about her career, as it has made the wrestler she is today.

Blanchard said, “I wouldn’t have changed anything about my career, its peaks and valleys. I wouldn’t have changed anything because I am very proud of who I am as a woman and wrestler today, and where my career has taken me.”

“If anything had been different, I could have been in a completely different place, a totally different person, or my ego could be at the top of the world, who knows?”

Blanchard said that what happened to her in early 2020 caused her mental health problems.

“When it all happened to me, even talking about it was difficult. I was living in Tijuana when I experienced this. I remember that some days, I would wake up and not have the strength to face the day. I would go back to sleep and spend the day in bed. There were days when I was tired of life because I didn’t have my identity. I didn’t even know who I was. In less than 24 hour, it was as if I went from here to nothing. “I went from contract offers with the biggest companies and more money than I had ever seen in my entire life to nothing.”

“This entire storyline we had developed for eight or nine month to me begging the TNA offices that day like ‘I didn’t want it, I didn’t want this.’ After I didn’t return home, I went on 27-days of media tour in Mexico, where I remember we would pull over before every interview in the Uber and I would vomit.”

“My family and my little sister and brother were 14 at the time. They were reading things about me I knew weren’t true. I knew it wasn’t in the heart. I wasn’t that person. But it didn’t really matter. Perception is reality. The truth doesn’t really matter.”

“I didn’t know my identity before wrestling, and through that, through the ups and downs, and those really tough days that I didn’t know if i was going to make it through, I discovered who Tessa was without wrestling.”

Chelsea Green of WWE, who was among the wrestlers to accuse Blanchard of bullying in a recent article by Fightful, has responded to that article. Green wrote:

“I do not wish anyone self-harm, or thoughts of suicide and hope that she has found peace. A simple “I’m sorry” can go a long way. We haven’t yet heard this. Accountability is important, and a tour of interviews will not erase the actions of a bully who is egotistical.”
