Bryan Danielson received “some sort” of legal letter from WWE opposing his trademark application when he tried to trademark the “Yes!” chant.
Danielson trademarked the term “Yes!” Yes! Yes! Danielson said that in an August interview with Luke James Chats, he received a letter from WWE claiming that they had infringed on their intellectual property.
“Well, so, it’s weird. Danielson said that he applied for the job, but received a letter from WWE. It wasn’t a cease-and-desist, it was some sort of legal document. “It was really strange because my manager texted me to say, ‘Hey this thing is now available.’ It was not that expensive. I said, “Ok, sure.” And then I received an email from WWE saying, “Oh, this infringes on this or that, or whatever.” And I replied, “Dude, I don’t want to sell anyone anything. I just do what I do.”
Danielson was reluctant to encourage the “Yes!” chant when he left WWE in 2021 for AEW, but he has been using it more recently. The chant was a part of his rise to stardom in WWE during the 2010s.
Danielson will defend the AEW World championship against Jack Perry this Saturday at All Out. Danielson won the title last month from Swerve in a title-vs.-career match at All In. Danielson is still wrapping up his full-time career and will step aside from full-time competitive wrestling when he loses AEW’s World Championship.
