Bret Hart believes that he would “ruffle WWE feathers” if he was to participate in AEW’s Owen Hart Cup.
Hart participated in a virtual sign-up with Signed by Superstars Friday night. He was asked if anyone had ever approached him about participating in the tournament honoring his brother.
Hart replied, “No one has ever asked me.”
“I’d need to think about it,” said the man. “I’d be happy for Tony to help, but I don’t know if i want to go down…I think it might ruffle WWE’s feathers, and I get my (royalties), and everything tied in by them. But it doesn’t hurt to inquire.”
Bret had earlier in the conversation referred to his younger sibling as his second favorite adversary of all time.
Hart replied, “Curt Henne and then Owen,” when asked about his favorite opponent. “Owen comes close. Curt was “the safest guy I’ve ever met.”
Hart was asked if he knew anything about the legendary Stampede Wrestling Leo Burke who died on July 24.
Hart replied, “Just the fact that he was an amazing wrestler.” “I learned a great deal from him.”
Hart had little to say when asked about Goldberg’s recent comments.
“I don’t really pay attention to Bill.” Hart replied, “I don’t know anyone who does.”
The third annual Owen Hart Cup women’s and men’s tournaments ended on July 10, when AEW Dynamite was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the hometown of the Harts. Mariah May, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Britt Bake, Rick Starks and Willow Nightingale are among those who won this year’s competitions.
