Big E is still waiting for a possible return to the ring.
Big E was interviewed by the Getting Over podcast and asked how he is doing now that he has been out of pain for more than two years. Big E said that he is healing well for everyday life, and has no pain or discomfort. However, his C1 vertebrae still have not turned into new bone. He won’t be cleared for wrestling until that happens.
Big E recently underwent stem cell therapy in Mexico. “We’ll have to see if it changes anything,” he said to Getting Over.
“It’s been two years since I broke my back. I broke my neck – my C1 in 2 places, and my C6 too. I feel great. I am not bothered by pain, discomfort, or weakness. “My strength is great,” Big E replied. “My C1 is healing in a fibrous way, which is fine for day-to-day living, but it is not turning into new bones. It hasn’t ossified yet. They won’t clear me until this happens. It’s a very important bone. Right now, it’s a waiting game. I went to Cancun a little over a month ago to get stem cells. We’ll see what happens. Right now, I’m feeling great. It’s just that I’m not ready to be cleared yet.”
Big E is grateful for all the blessings in his life, despite his injury keeping him away from the ring. He is grateful that he avoided paralysis or even death.
Big E has been involved with WWE even when he was not in action. He is an ambassador for the company, and a panelist at WWE pre-shows. He pumped up the crowd at Money in the Bank earlier in the month by stepping into the ring.
It was cool. Big E revealed in his Getting Over Interview that it was only a small hit for the Countdown Show. “I think that the coolest part for me was to be out, even though not many fans were in the arena. But even getting some love back was very, very awesome.”
