Lynch’s historic win at WrestleMania isn’t the best moment she’s ever experienced.
Becky Lynch says that her WrestleMania triumph at WrestleMania35 is not her favorite WrestleMania memory.
In 2019, Lynch, Ronda, and Charlotte Flair made history as the first ever women to headline WrestleMania. Lynch defeated Rousey, Charlotte and Charlotte Flair in the WrestleMania main event to win the Raw and SmackDown Women’s title.
Lynch says that despite it being a pivotal moment in her career, WrestleMania 38 is not her favorite. Sports Illustrated reported that Lynch actually preferred her WrestleMania38 loss to Bianca Belair.
I enjoyed WrestleMania 36, where I lost to Bianca, more than WrestleMania 35. Daniel Bryan also said something similar about how much he enjoyed his WrestleMania match with Kofi [at WrestleMania35] than he enjoyed WrestleMania30. It’s strange. It’s funny how that happens.
Lynch said that being a heel gave her more creative freedom during WrestleMania.
When you were a top Babyface [in Vince McMahon’s WWE], you had a little bit more micromanagement. I had more creative freedom at WrestleMania. When you are the villain, the crowd will start to look like someone else. It’s fun to make someone else look good.
Lynch’s favorite opponent is Belair. She recently named Charlotte and Belair as her “soulmates” in the ring.
Last week, Lynch’s book “Becky Lynch – The Man: not your average average girl” was released. In an interview with Sports Illustrated Lynch stated that WrestleMania was one of the most difficult topics to write about for her book.
That’s the girlhood-dream-come-true moment. Everyone asks, “How did you feel?” I felt everything but I also felt none. It’s a strange juxtaposition. Was there any change after I got through? My internal landscape was the same. There were fireworks but nothing else. It was one of the hardest things to write in my book. It’s what people want to know about. I get it-that’s the culmination.
Then, the next night, I was brought down to earth by having to do a segment on only one hour of sleep while Vince was screaming at me in Gorilla. On the other hand, I was confident and cocky leading up to the match at WrestleMania.
It wasn’t my final destination. It was an important stop along my journey.
Lynch will have a big moment at WrestleMania when she challenges Rhea Ripley to the Women’s World Championship. Lynch has stated that she believes her match against Ripley is part of the WrestleMania night one card this Saturday, April 6.
