Becky Lynch: Consistency makes the difference between WWE’s new and old regimes in todays Wrestling news
Lynch says Paul Levesque, aka “Triple H”, has a vision for the future and executes that vision.
Becky Lynch believes that consistency is what separates WWE’s old regime from its new one.
Lynch was asked on the Getting Over podcast how things have changed in WWE creative since Paul “Triple H’ Levesque” replaced Vince McMahon. Lynch said that Levesque has a vision for his stories, and he executes it. Under McMahon’s leadership, WWE programming was constantly rewritten. Stories would stop and restart as McMahon changed their minds.
Lynch said:
Consistency is the key, in my opinion. Paul [Levesque] has a tendency to have a vision and an idea for something that he then executes. Before, it was well-known that the show would be rewritten while it was on air, and the audience didn’t even know what happened in the third hour. Vince [McMahon] changed his mind about certain stories. Paul is a man who sees things through. For better or worse, it makes for a different viewing experience. You’ll see the story through, whether you like it or not. It’s also good because, even if you don’t like the story in week two, you won’t know what it will be about in week four. If we listen to those who say, “We don’t enjoy the story from week two,” then you may never experience the magic of week four.
I think it is important to listen to your audience. Wrestling is meant to elicit emotions. People were shocked when I beat Bianca Belair [at SummerSlam 2020] in 26 seconds. This was the intended outcome. You were supposed to be indignant. You were supposed to be outraged. Then I think I started to talk about her hair. People were outraged I would touch her hair. They were outraged and said, “How dare they?” If you don’t understand where we are heading, also, I am an idiot, and you are supposed to be outraged at the things I do. Please understand that this is a heel. A heel is not someone who gives cool zingers. It’s someone who is unlikable, that you want the babyface to be overthrown. It doesn’t work out every time.
I could go off on a tangent. The magic of the story is lost if you don’t finish the story. It is important to listen, but sometimes it is better to not listen.
Lynch’s creative direction will see her as the number one contender for Rhea Ripley’s Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania. Ripley will be Lynch’s opponent at WrestleMania in Philadelphia, either on Saturday, April 6, or Sunday, April 7,
Lynch’s interview with Getting Over was a part of a tour to promote “Becky Lynch, The Man: Not your average average girl”, which was released today.
