Asuka missed WWE house shows over the weekend due to a possible injury.
Asuka did not appear at WWE’s live events in Augusta, Georgia, on March 16, or North Charleston, South Carolina, on March 17. In the defeats to Bianca Belair & Naomi, Asuka’s Kabuki Warriors partner Kairi was teamed up with IYO SKY.
Asuka’s absence from the house shows follows her limping at the end of SmackDown on Friday. PWInsider reported that Asuka injured her knee during SmackDown. She was pulled from the weekend’s events “out of precaution and to allow medical testing to confirm if it was something Asuka can work through or if she has a bigger injury.”
Damage CTRL interfered in the main event between Bayley and Dakota Kai on Friday’s SmackDown, resulting in a disqualification. Damage CTRL beat Bayley down after the match. Naomi initially managed to fight Damage CTRL, but the numbers advantage proved too much.
Asuka and Sane are currently the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions.
WWE has not yet announced Asuka’s plans at WrestleMania.
SKY defends her WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania against Bayley. This week on SmackDown, SKY will face Naomi in a non title singles match.
Belair has refused to forgive Bayley for everything she did to her prior to Bayley turning babyface. This storyline is leading up to WrestleMania.
