This week, Cara Pipia, Massaro’s close friend, appeared on Banfield.

Cara Pipia’s best friend, Ashley Massaro (who died in December), appeared on NewsNation Banfield this week and backed up Massaro’s claims that WWE covered up her 2006 rape on a Kuwaiti military base.

Massaro, as part of a lawsuit filed against WWE in 2017 over its handling of concussions alleged that she was raped and drugged by someone posing a military doctor during a WWE Tour in Kuwait in 2006. Massaro said that Vince McMahon had apologized to her for the experience, but asked her not to reveal the incident as it would damage WWE’s relationship the military. Massaro claimed that she was invited to a meeting by WWE executives, and was told that it would be in the best interest of WWE if information about her attack was kept private.

Pipia said on Banfield that Massaro spent “about eight hours” telling her about what happened when he returned from Kuwait.

Pipia claimed that Massaro told her about the meeting between WWE executives. Pipia claimed Massaro had been “threatened”, and that WWE showed no compassion or sympathy.

She spoke to Vince McMahon several times. Vince McMahon had his daughter [Stephanie McMahon] replace him because she was female, a women and to make Ashley more comfortable. They just played with Ashley.

They play with Ashley because Stephanie had made Ashley feel comfortable and secure, but as soon as they entered the boardroom meeting Ashley was completely on her own.

She was threatened, but there was no compassion or sympathy shown.

Massaro committed suicide in 2019. Ashleigh Banfield asked Pipia whether she felt what happened to Massaro while in Kuwait contributed to the suicide.

Pipia replied, “99 percent.” “Absolutely.”

After Massaro died, WWE claimed McMahon’s and WWE management had never been informed of Massaro rape allegations.

A lawyer for former WWE executive John Laurinaitis told Vice News recently that upper WWE management knew about the allegation. Laurinaitis says that the proper protocol was followed and there wasn’t a cover-up.

Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a lawsuit last month against McMahon and Laurinaitis. The suit also names WWE as defendants. Grant claims that she was a victim of physical and mental abuse, sexual assault and sex slavery while working at WWE. McMahon quit WWE and its parent TKO Group Holdings after the lawsuit.

Vice News published a section of Massaro’s 2017 affidavit last week. In it, Massaro accused McMahon and other women’s wrestlers of preying on them. This part of the affidavit had been originally omitted “because it was not relevant to the central claims in the case in which they represented her, which involved concussions.”
