Adam Copeland, former TNT champion, has begun his recovery after undergoing surgery to repair a broken leg.

Copeland fractured his tibia in a barbed-wire steel cage match with Malakai Black on AEW’s Double or Nothing Pay-per-View on May 26. The injury occurred during a scene where Copeland jumped out of the cage and landed with his feet first while pushing Black through a desk.

Copeland announced his injury two days after Double or Nothing. He would require surgery. He then posted an update today, revealing that surgery was completed. Copeland joked in a video that he wouldn’t be able compete at AEW & NJPW Forbidden Door, but he could walk through the “Forbidden Door”, sign he placed on his gym.

Copeland said, “I wanted to see what I could do on my first day, the first morning after surgery. “So, I’m about walk through the Forbidden Door. Since I cannot walk through the Forbidden Door at the pay-per-view to face someone from New Japan Pro-Wrestling I can walk through the Forbidden Door in the gym.

Copeland shows himself getting ready to perform single-leg planks at the gym.

Copeland had to leave the TNT Championship due to an injury. On Sunday, June 30, a new champion will be crowned at Forbidden Doors in a ladder match. Konosuke Takhita is first wrestler who qualified for the match.

No timeline has been announced for Copeland’s return to the ring.
