Two founding employees of the company are leaving.
A key cog that helps AEW put together its live events, along with their chief marketing & merchandising officers, will leave the company after Worlds End on Saturday.
Rafael Morffi has been appointed as the company’s first vice president of Live Events & Touring. He will be working with the Brooklyn Nets ownership team and booking events for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
PWInsider broke the news first on Saturday, with Dave Meltzer confirming it later.
Morrfi was responsible for AEW live event tours, building bookings, local marketing and all the other logistics that go with this part of the company.
According to PWInsider Morffi gave notice of his resignation earlier this month, when AEW was in Montreal Quebec, Canada. The move was made to give Morrfi and his family more time together, as they live in Brooklyn.
Bryan Alvarez confirmed that Dana Massie, chief marketing and merchandising, is also leaving the company. This news was reported by Fightful, Raj Giri, and Bryan Alvarez shortly after. No specific departure date was given, nor was it known if her decision or AEW made the departure.
Massie Jackson is the wife of Matt Jackson, the Young Bucks’ Matt Jackson, who along with his brother Nick signed multi-year contracts this year.
As of this writing, no replacements have been announced.
Kevin Sullivan, AEW’s vice president of post-production, was fired earlier this month. QT Marshall, AEW’s vice president of show & creativity coordination, will leave the company at the end of the year.
