AEW is no longer available on TelevisaUnivision ViX platform in todays Wrestling news
AEW announced a multi-year agreement with the partner for 2023.
AEW, which had been available on TelevisaUnivision’s ViX platform for more than a year before the deal was signed, is no longer there. This is the second international broadcast deal to disappear quietly.
Although neither party has made a formal announcement, a support webpage revealed the news in a short statement. The page doesn’t appear to be dated but a look at the HTML source code shows that it was last updated March 13th.
AEW and TelevisaUnivision are yet to respond to any comments made.
The deal, announced in July 2023 was to bring AEW’s weekly TV programming as well as other content to ViX’s premium tier. This service is available throughout Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean and some countries.
Wrestlenomics Brandon Thurston estimated that the deal would be worth $150,000 per year, but this has never been made public by either party.
AEW’s international streaming deal with TelevisaUnivision is not the only one that has vanished this year.
Reddit users claim that the content of the company was no longer available on DAZN in the beginning the year, despite the fact that both parties had signed a multi-year agreement for 42 markets back in January 2023.
Thurston estimated that the deal was worth $250,000 per year, but neither side ever announced it.
In the past, the company announced a deal to broadcast ESPN in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. Despite the absence of a presence on AEW’s “how to view” page, it is not clear that this deal, or others with partners such as ITV, EuroSport or Sky in Germany or Africa are no longer in effect.
