Adam Copeland’really really amped up,’ to face Christian Cage in AEW Dynamite in todays Wrestling news
Copeland spoke with Sports Illustrated before the match on Wednesday.
Adam Copeland’s TNT Championship match with Christian Cage must have taken place in Canada.
Christian will be fighting Copeland for the TNT title in this Wednesday’s episode AEW Dynamite. This is the first time since 2010 that the two iconic tag-team partners and best friends have faced off against each other. Copeland debuted in AEW this October, and has been feuding Christian ever since.
Copeland explained why the match will be on Dynamite and not this month’s AEW Worlds End Pay-per-view. Copeland stated that the match, in his opinion, had to take place in Canada. Copeland said that facing Christian in Montreal for a title is what he has dreamed about.
I’ve heard people ask, “Why isn’t it on pay-per view?” To me, the where is more important than the when. Montreal is the place to be. We have no choice but to do it here. My family will be there, cousins and other relatives who have known [Christian] over the years.
It’s special to do it in Canada. I am so excited to do this. I honestly believe there is no other story like ours with this real story. Two friends from Orangeville in Ontario who got where we are because of each other. I hope this is a rabid audience. This is what I hoped for-working that guy in Montreal to win a championship.
Christian’s work in AEW is praised by Copeland, despite their on-screen rivalry.
This is [Christian] with no restrictions. He is discovering and sometimes accidentally stumbling upon things that garner reactions. He is the type of performer who keeps his ears open. Wait until he does it again, and better. He’s also helping others to rise.
Christian has been TNT Champion ever since September. He is the leader of The Patriarchy, a faction in AEW that includes Nick Wayne and Killswitch. Copeland teamed up with Sting & Darby Allen to defeat Christian, Killswitch & Wayne last month at Full Gear.
Copeland told Sports Illustrated he wanted to do everything he could to help others and tell their stories.
We were both told that we would never wrestle each other again. We were in different companies at the time, so we didn’t have the opportunity to wrestle one another. We’re finally here. We’re at the point where we can tell a multi-layered story better than ever before. We’re bringing in different talent and giving them a boost. It’s what I want to do.
The Bell Centre in Montreal is the venue for Wednesday’s Dynamite. Tonight (December 5,) the Bell Centre will also host an AEW collision taping. Collision will air at its usual time slot on Saturday.
