Adam Copeland: More flourishing companies ‘a positive to all wrestlers in todays Wrestling news
Copeland recently spoke to Sports Illustrated.
Adam Copeland reflected upon his AEW Dynamite promotion from April 3, during a recent Sports Illustrated interview.
The promo was released two days after CM Punk made headlines for his criticism of AEW, Tony Khan and The MMA Hour.
Copeland said that AEW should celebrate for creating more jobs for wrestlers. “AEW has pushed the industry into a much better place!” It has allowed more people to pursue their passions as a career, and that is something to be celebrated.
He told SI.com he wanted to hear his comments in the AEW locker rooms.
Copeland said that:
People can be so negative. This is also true of our fans. Some people are so rigid that they will only watch or celebrate one thing. For us, it’s totally different. We all want to see each other succeed. Don’t get me incorrect, it’s a great way to earn a living. But, it’s also a difficult way. It’s good for all wrestlers when more than one company thrives. There is a strange fan who has a different view of things. So I wanted to address this, and I also wanted our locker rooms to hear it.
Copeland also reflected upon his I Quit Match in Toronto on March 20 against Christian Cage. Copeland, wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs shirt, brawled with Cage in the penalty box of the arena while Cage was wearing a Boston Bruins’ jersey.
Copeland commented on the match:
The jerseys were collected two hours before the performance. It’s Canada and we’re in Toronto. You want to always cater to your audience. I saw a penalty area. We wanted to tap into it.
I had told our props team earlier in the day that the Hockey Hall of Fame was the only place in Toronto where they could find a Bruins’ jersey. Christian was forced to wear the sweater at that point.
I know that some Leafs were watching. I received some texts after the game on the bus.
Copeland teamed up with Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe on Sunday at AEW Dynasty. They lost to The House of Black in a trios game after Malakai Black sprayed black mist into Copeland’s eyes.
