Copeland wants people to be excited about wrestling him.

Adam Copeland believes he still has 18 months to fight.

The TNT Champion appeared on the Tuesday edition of Mostly Sports with Mark Titus & Brandon Walker. Copeland was asked to compare his first career run with the one he is currently on during the interview. Copeland retired from the game for nine years between his two stints due to neck problems.

Copeland said that the biggest difference in his life is the amount of experience he has gained. He has lived more and learned new things he can put to use. Copeland feels better mentally than he has ever been.

Copeland, 50, said he didn’t want stay in the ring for too long because he’d get to a point where young men wouldn’t be excited to wrestle with him. Copeland thinks he may have a year-and-a-half left to compete in the ring.

Copeland said that:

I’ve experienced a lot more. As strange as it sounds, this adds to your tool belt. As a performer of any kind, whether you’re a musician who writes music or an actor, you have to tap into your own self in order to pull off the character. It’s the exact same with wrestling. This is the biggest thing I’ve noticed since returning. Some of the skillsets I acquired from the acting I did during those nine years off. I watched over 100 episodes of TV during my retirement. You try to bring those things with you.

It’s the difference I feel most. I may not be as quick as I used to, but I think I’m mentally better than ever. I think this is why Tom Brady says, “Yeah, I’m mentally better than I ever was.” And I can see the game more clearly than ever before. I think that is the struggle. That’s how I feel. But I’m a realist and I don’t want to be the guy who stays around until a young man looks at the sheet of paper and says, “Ah, ok. I have to wrestle him tonight.” I don’t wanna be that guy. I want young men to be still excited if they are going to jump in there with me. So I figure I have maybe a year-and-a-half left, you know.

Copeland made his AEW debut in October 2023, after 25 years of working for WWE. On Wednesday’s episode, Copeland will team up with Willow Nightingale to compete in a mixed-tag match against Brody King & Julia Hart.

Then, on Sunday, there will be a three-way match between Copeland (with Eddie Kingston & Mark Briscoe) and House of Black, which includes King, Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews, at AEW Dynasty.
