Adam Copeland: AEW Dynamite vs. Christian Cage is ‘the scenario I dreamed of’ in todays Wrestling news
Copeland vs. Cage headlined AEW Dynamite at Toronto.
Adam Copeland posted a statement on his match with AEW Dynamite.
He posted on Instagram on Sunday that he had always wanted to wrestle Christian Cage after his return to the 2020 Royal Rumble.
Copeland wrote the following:
About Dynamite Wednesday When I returned to wrestling at the 2020 Rumble, this was the match that I always wanted. Face to face with the @christian4peeps 40 years after our first meeting. @aew helped make it possible. Toronto, you were out in force to enjoy yourself. I hope you had fun. It sure sounded that way and I won’t forget it. Ever. This was the kind scenario I dreamed of in art class as a child. Even if you have to wait 40 years, if you dream long enough, it will happen. Now without further ado ….AND THE NEW TNT Champion.
Copeland vs. Cage at AEW Dynamite had 867,000 viewers, and 401,000 among 18-49. Dave Meltzer, our own wrestling analyst, covered the match in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s latest edition.
“Every match Copeland & Cage play is well planned. I think they did a lot but it was well done and the crowd was engaged for the majority of the match. Meltzer wrote that the match was more about a brawl than about the players quitting. He gave it four stars and a quarter.
Copeland revealed that, following his victory on Wednesday night he will be defending the TNT Championship via an open challenge called “Cope Open”. His first defense will be at AEW collision next Saturday in London Ontario, Canada.
