Cole and MJF had been in a hot angle when the injury occurred. The two “brochachos”, who headlined AEW All In 2020 at Wembley Stadium, faced off against each other only weeks before Cole broke his ankle in Grand Slam.
Cole says doctors had to use a cadaver bone in his leg because the injury was so severe.
“The first thing I heard was that your ankle was much worse than we expected.” “You have to get another operation in seven days,” said he. “I had to have double the screws in my foot, and I also had to have someone else’s bone placed into my ankle as the bone within my ankle completely disintegrated.”
“I am incredibly grateful to [the donor] as well as the family,” he added. “It is definitely a better choice.” I can tell a difference between my left and right ankles, but that’s to be expected.
The cadaver was used instead of a metal plate that could have limited his range of motion. Cole says that he doesn’t feel limited by the surgery.
“I still feel that I can be Adam Cole, and do the things I want to do.” “I’m not close to being done with wrestling.”
Despite being injured, Cole continued his storyline at Worlds End in December last year, turning against his former friend, revealing he was the man behind the devil mask. He formed The Undisputed Kingdom with Matt Taven Mike Bennett and Roderick strong that night. Cole isn’t certain if MJF will be a part of Cole’s story, as the babyface/heel dynamic has changed since they both returned to the company.
“I know Roddy, Mike and Matt have been insistent in wanting to be involved. I’m not sure if I want to involve them or not. Time will tell. But for now, I think that leaving them out is important to me and Max’s closure.
