Kevin Owens has commented in a new interview on CM’s return to WWE.
Owens spoke to sports journalist James Williams in order to promote the WWE Holiday Tour house show that will be held in Los Angeles next month. During the interview Owens was questioned about Punk’s WWE comeback and what it meant for the pro-wrestling business.
Owens replied, “I want to enjoy my job.” “So, if he has that mindset, then great.”
Owens and Punk were involved in a tense relationship in ROH, where they both worked at the beginning of their careers. Owens, a friend of The Young Bucks and Punk, tweeted a snide comment at Punk the night after AEW Brawl Out in September 2022.
Punk surprised everyone by returning to WWE last weekend at Survivor Series. Punk made his first WWE promotional video in almost a decade on Raw Monday night.
Randy Orton also made his WWE comeback at Survivor Series. Orton was away from the ring for almost two years. Last year, Orton had double fusion surgery for a back injury that threatened his career.
In an interview with James Williams Owens expressed his joy at Orton’s return:
I love Randy. I’m so glad he’s returned. He’s needed. To me, his presence in the locker room has been a positive. You know, aside from the fact that he is a legend and a fantastic performer, there are some people who are just good to be around. He’s a good guy to have around. He’s good to have around. He brings a sense that, you know, there are now people who are leaders without saying “I’m a Leader”. They don’t have to be. They are. Randy is one of them. When Randy Orton is around, everyone just ups their game. And I love it.
Owens is currently in a feud with Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, both of whom are appearing on SmackDown. Owens and LA Knight defeated Theory & Waller last Friday in a tag-team match.
