Bryan Danielson has confirmed that he is not currently under contract with AEW.
Danielson will compete for the world championship at All In on Sunday, the biggest AEW show of the year. He will face Swerve Strickland. Danielson revealed in a recent Fightful interview that he is technically a free agent going into the match.
Danielson laughed and said, “I don’t have a contract right now.” “Yeah. I’m not under contract. That’s crazy.”
He’s confident that he will continue to promote himself, even after his career in the ring is over.
“Tony Khan and I have spoken.” I’ll pick up the telephone when he calls… but I have to say that I was already asleep last night, because he called at 9:30 pm Pacific time.
“The first thing I’ll do after I finish wrestling is to get my neck better. This will probably involve some type of neck operation sooner rather than later. Then I will help AEW in any way I can. I love AEW, so I want to do as much help as I can. As much as they ask for my help, I am willing to participate.”
Danielson also addressed his role behind the scenes with the company during the interview. He spoke about working with Tony Khan in creative and his “no-fun job” as a member of the disciplinary panel.
“I help Tony in creative, but it’s still Tony’s ideas that are mainly used for AEW. Danielson said, “He’s got an amazing mind for wrestling.”
“So, I’m a little help with that. I’m a little help with the disciplinary panel. What will it look like after I finish wrestling? I don’t know. We’ll see.”
