Pro Wrestling NOAH announces Yoshinari ogawa's retirement in todays Wrestling news

Yoshinari OGWA is retiring from the ring after a career spanning nearly four decades.

Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced that Ogawa, 57, will retire immediately due to a neck problem. NOAH will not hold a retirement presser or ceremony as per Ogawa’s request.

NOAH wrote: “We would like express our sincere appreciation for the support and encouragement our fans [have] showed Ogawa over many years.” “Although Ogawa will be retiring from professional wrestling, we are pleased to inform you he can live his life as normal.”

Ogawa made a debut in the ring for All Japan Pro Wrestling 1985. In 2000, he left AJPW to join Pro Wrestling NOAH. He spent the majority of his career as a Junior Heavyweight, with titles in both AJPW AND NOAH.

In 2002, Ogawa was the NOAH’s GHC heavyweight champion. He was the third wrestler in history to hold the title, after Mitsuharu Misawa & Jun Akiyama. Ogawa and Misawa held the GHC Tag Team title for two consecutive reigns.

The final match in Ogawa’s professional career was an eight-man Tag Match that took place on August 4 for NOAH.
