Kota Ibushi has announced his return to the ring with DDT.
Ibushi, who appeared at Peter Pan 2020 last month, told Sanshiro Taagi, the company’s founder that he wanted to return to DDT rings.
DDT announced officially on Wednesday that Ibushi would wrestle at its August 25 show in Korakuen Hall. He will team up with Akito Dino and Danshoku in a tag-match against Yuki Iino Yuya Koroku and Tetsuya Endeo.
Ibushi stated in a social media response to the match announcement that he had received permission from AEW for him to perform on the show.
“Ahhhh!! It’s probably been 8 years. It feels both new and nostalgic. Akito-kun, Dino-san. I only remember you two. I never imagined I would meet Endo, to whom I had entrusted my things. I also got permission from AEW so everything is in place. Please be gentle with me, younger members. I’m going to go full-power. Was it a coincidence that I held the mic at the time or did I hold it? “Inevitable?” read the translation of Ibushi’s comments.
Ibushi’s final match for DDT was held on March 20, 2017 in Saitama. He won the show with Daisuke Sekomoto, Jun Akiyama, and Kodaka.
