NXT will be on the road as it prepares to move to The CW.
Shawn Michaels announced today on social media that NXT’s October 1st premiere episode will be broadcast live from Chicago’s Allstate Arena. He also announced that the brand would be heading to St. Louis next week, but he did not specify a venue.
The launch of CW takes place in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena on October 1. What’s better that a week on the road? Two weeks on tour St. Louis, prepare yourself for our arrival on October 8. It’s true, we are coming to you two weeks in a line, with NXT and the CW launch. Get ready, everyone. NXT was on fire last year, but now NXT on CW is going to be a different animal.”
WWE’s press release announcing live events mentions CM Punk, Randy Orton and “special appearances” on the shows in Chicago and St. Louis.
“WWE Superstars CM Punk and Randy Orton will also make special appearances at the live arena shows in Chicago and St. Louis.”
The CW released their first NXT ad on Saturday. The 30-second spot featured members of the NXT team including Trick Williams Roxanne Perez Kelani Jordan and more.
WWE announced a five year deal with The CW in November to bring NXT on the network. TKO’s Ari Emanuel told investors later that the deal was a 70 percent boost from the previous agreement with NBCUniversal. The previous contract was estimated to be between $20 and $25 million per year.
