Nia Jax has been crowned the new WWE Women’s Champion, after she defeated Bayley at SummerSlam.
Jax pinned Bayley after two Annihilators, and a distraction by Money in the Bank contract holder Tiffany Stratton on Saturday night in Cleveland during SummerSlam.
Bayley had just kicked out of an Annihilator, when Stratton’s music started and the MITB holder rushed to the ring along with a referee. Bayley cut Stratton before she could cash out, but the distraction gave Jax the opportunity to get back in the match and hit Jax’s finisher twice and take the title.
WWE recognizes that the current Women’s Championship has the same lineage of the WWE Women’s Title introduced in 2016. This is the second time Jax holds this title and the first singles championship since 2018.
Bayley’s reign as champion ends after 118 days. The former champion won the title in April from IYO SKY during WrestleMania.
