WWE’s announcer team will undergo a new change this fall.
During WWE’s SummerSlam Pre-Show, it was announced that Joe Tessitore, from ESPN, will officially begin his WWE career on the Raw 2 September edition, which will be held in Denver, Colorado. Michael Cole will return to SmackDown when it moves to USA Network this fall.
WWE confirmed Tessitore’s arrival as the newest member to its announcer team in early January.
Paul Levesque, in a release following the announcement of Tessitore signing, said that Joe’s voice gives the feeling of a big event every time he is at the microphone. “We are excited to have Joe join the legendary WWE broadcaster Michael Cole, and our esteemed team of announcers. He will bring his signature energy and meticulous prep to our WWE telecasts every week.”
Corey Graves, Wade Barrett and Pat McAfee are the current broadcast teams for SmackDown and Monday Night Raw respectively. Kevin Patrick, SmackDown lead announcer, was fired in January.
