Michael Cole and WWE agreed to a new contract earlier this year.
The Ringer spent some time with Cole recently for a profile article that was published ahead of SummerSlam. In the article, it was revealed Cole signed a contract with WWE this spring. The length of the contract was not disclosed, but Cole is expected to remain the voice of WWE “for the foreseeable future.”
The Ringer reported that “Cole signed a contract this spring that will keep him the voice of WWE in the near future.”
Cole is currently a part of the WWE Raw commentary crew, and he calls the show with Pat McAfee. The Ringer reported that Cole would remain Raw’s play-by-play lead voice when the show moves to Netflix in 2025.
In May, it was reported that Cole had “pulled away” from his role behind the scenes managing WWE announcers to focus on his on-air duties. Cole will also be a panelist for the PLE Pre-show on Saturday, in addition to calling SummerSlam.
Cole has been with WWE now for 27 years. Since Vince McMahon left the company, fans are now more appreciative of Cole’s work on play-byplay. Cole (real name Sean Michael Coulthard), told The Ringer, that he has shown more of his personality on screen over the past three years.
Cole said, “For the first 24 years Michael Cole was here.” “I was playing the role of a broadcaster. Sean Coulthard is who you see. This personality is who I am. I’m bombastic. I’m sarcastic. I’m a prick. “But I’m a helluva good broadcaster.”
