Goldberg says that he sees similarities between AEW founder Tony Khan, and former TNA Wrestling chief Dixie Carter.
Khan said he respects Goldberg but was surprised by these comments, as Goldberg had not said that to him in their conversation. Khan said Goldberg was interested in working for AEW.
Goldberg brought up AEW during his interview on the latest episode Insight with Chris Van Vliet. Goldberg said that he can’t judge the AEW show because he only watches clips. Goldberg said Khan reminds him Dixie Carter, but did not elaborate on the similarities between the two. Carter met Goldberg while she was the head of TNA but never signed up with them.
Goldberg said, “I think that we have a different view on it [why the talks with AEW failed to produce anything].” “I don’t know. It’s hard to judge their production since I haven’t watched it. I’ve seen clips. It’s difficult to give a rational analysis of the show if I haven’t seen it. So, I really don’t know. He reminds of Dixie Carter but in a male form. I don’t really know if this is a good thing or a bad one. He reminds me of this scenario. It’s a completely different feeling. It’s just a different feeling.
Goldberg said that he and AEW never came close to a deal.
“No, I do not think I ever came close to making a business deal with him.” Goldberg said, “I think it was a much more realistic transition when Sting involved.” “Because I reached out to Sting to be a member, I thought we could do a goodbye thing together at some point. But it wasn’t me. It was all about Sting. I never wanted to overshadow what he does. But I also didn’t wish to confuse the waters. It would have made for a nice crescendo but it wasn’t all about me. The timing was off on that one.”
Goldberg hasn’t fought since 2022 but would love to wrestle one last time. He told Busted Open Radio in October that he had a torn Rotator Cuff and that it needed to be repaired before he could wrestle again.
