Meiko Satomura, the legendary boxer, is ending her career.

Tokyo Sports reports Satomura’s decision to retire from ring competition. She will make a formal announcement soon. While a date has not yet been confirmed, the report states that it is likely to be next spring. April 2025 marks the 30th anniversary since Satomura made her pro wrestling debut.

Satomura is the Sendai Girls promoter in Japan, and she has a contract with WWE. Satomura competed in her first WWE match at Thursday’s Osaka house show since March 2023, when she competed for NXT. She teamed up with Bayley, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill to defeat IYO SKY and Dakota Kai & Tiffany Stratton.

Satomura informed Tokyo Sports after the house show that she would be announcing her retirement in the near term. She has only wrestled twice in the last year.

Satomura signed a contract with WWE for 2021 to be a wrestler as well as a coach for NXT UK. She’s the former NXT UK Women’s champion.

Satomura’s stellar career in the ring has seen her compete in Japan, star on indies worldwide, and even compete for WCW in 1990s.
