Tony Khan, on Thursday’s Ring of Honor Media Call, said that he had been told by WWE’s Public Relations Department that the department was telling others his new TV right deal is complete and follows the same pattern as his previous deal with WBD.
Khan, after answering a question on whether a deal had been made, opened up about the claim he heard directly from a “major wrestling media member” that his deal with WBD was done.
“I don’t understand why WWE tells people about our media deal. I don’t think it’s their business. I don’t understand why WWE PR talks to people about my business. WWE PR tells people that the contract is signed and that it is at the same level as our previous contract. He said that was not the case.
He continued, adding “It is none of their concern.” WWE PR is involved in many things that they shouldn’t be. This is not true. We’re going to make a great deal for AEW. It’s going be a huge increase over what we have been doing. We’re in an excellent position and have done great business here despite the threats.
Khan had said earlier that he felt that if he were to hold a five- or six-match card, like other companies, he would have been criticized for it, and that he was more criticized than others for any decisions that he made.
