MJF spoke about the injury he sustained at AEW full gear 2023 in a recent interview.
He tore his labrum during his match with Jay White. Despite his injuries MJF wrestled a few months later at Worlds End, where he lost the AEW World Title to Samoa Joe.
He spoke about the injuries in a recent appearance on The Wrestling Classic.
“In the Jay White Match – by the way, I beat him on just one leg no big deal. – I did an elbow drop to the floor from the top of the rope because I wanted to impress people who I thought cared for me. Later on, I found out that they didn’t. I thought they cared about me, so I fought it for another 20 minutes.
MJF will defend the AEW International Championship at Arena Mexico on Friday 2 August against Templario. Templario won a tournament on Tuesday’s CMLL show. In an interview with Wrestling Classic, he also discussed the upcoming event.
He said: “I love lucha livre.” He noted that he has performed in Mexico for MLW and AAA, as well as The Crash. “I remember that not too long ago, I mentioned that I would love to see AEW have a show at Aztec Stadium. The reason I want and love to go there is that the competitors are so weak. It’s an easy payday, and the food is delicious.”
MJF will be in Nashville for AEW Dynamite Blood & Guts tonight, before he heads to Mexico City tomorrow. AEW advertises that fans will hear him on the show.
“(White hit me with an uranage from the top rope, and I landed directly on left shoulder. My labrum snapped in half.”
“It was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. Then someone tells me that you need to give a press release and I say, ‘Oh, the wrestling fans are great, I will do a media conference and fight through the tears. Once again, wrestling fans proved to me that they didn’t care about my feelings. They made memes and thought it was funny. “It was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced and nobody cared.”
