Ronda Rousey believes WWE “took several step back” after Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were the headliners of WrestleMania.
Since leaving the company after SummerSlam in 2023, Rousey has been critical. Rousey, while promoting her second book, Our Fight, in early this year, called WWE an ‘absolute sh*tshow’ for its lack of support to women’s wrestlers.
In a recent TV Insider interview, Rousey stated that she was encouraged by the changes since Triple H took control of the reigns.
“I saw Nattie’s post the other day, that they had a match card or half the matches were women. Rousey said that this was the last hurdle we had to overcome. “To have an equal representation in the time allocated for programming.” I’m sure that the matches themselves did not get the same amount of time as the men, but all these advances make it easier for those who follow us to continue where we left off instead of having to go all the way back.
“We can push further and further and help the next generation. After the main event at WrestleMania, I felt like WWE had taken several steps back. But now that Vince McMahon has left and Triple H is in charge, I feel that we are moving forward again. I’m very encouraged by the progress being made in the entire industry.”
Rousey commented on the new WWE system in a recent CBS Sports interview. She said that she enjoyed working with Triple H, and that now that McMahon has left, “the only place you can go up is up.”
Rousey is promoting the launch a Kickstarter campaign for her graphic novel Expecting the Unexpected. The fundraising campaign will begin on Thursday, 25th July. Rousey will be promoting her book at the San Diego Comic-Con on that day. She will participate in a panel at the event, moderated by Batista.
