Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion, will kick off SmackDown on the road to SummerSlam tonight.
WWE has confirmed that Rhodes is going to defend his title at SummerSlam, on Saturday August 3. SmackDown will open tonight with Rhodes addressing Sikoa.
Nick Aldis, SmackDown’s General Manager, announced that “we will be kicking off the show in Omaha with the American Nightmare – the Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes.” “I’m not sure what he’s going to say, but I’ll guess that the WWE title match against Solo Sikoa is on the agenda. What about the rest? “We’ll find out the rest together.”
Sikoa defeated Rhodes in the main event Money in the Bank in a six man tag match to set up the SummerSlam championship bout. The Bloodline put Randy Orton on the announce table last week after he tried saving Rhodes from being beaten down. Sikoa forced Rhodes into watching Orton being laid out.
WWE has also announced Tiffany Stratton vs. Michin for tonight’s SmackDown. Stratton was in Nia Jax’s corner last Friday when Jax beat Michin. Jax will be competing against Bayley at SummerSlam for the WWE Women’s Championship.
